Wir folgen den ganzen Tag Straßen und Waldwegen 

bis das Meer in Sicht kommt und erst Waitangi dann Paihia vor uns liegen. 

Paihia

Paihia ist voll mit Backpacker-Unterkünften und Jugendherbergen. In einer Straße zählen wir allein sieben. Keine Ahnung was die hier alle treiben. 
Eine Meute TeAraroa Hiker sind im YHA untergekommen. Auch Michele und Allan. Morgen früh werden wir mit einem Charterboot, einem sogenannten Wassertaxi von Opua nach Waikare fahren. Um den Preis niedrig zu halten haben wir uns mit Michele, Allan und  ein paar anderen Hikern zusammen geschlossen.

All day long we follow roads and forest roads

until we finally reach the sea. First we can see Waitangi, shortly after that Paihia. 

Waitangi

There are a lot of backbacker places and youth hostels in town. In one road we count seven of them. I really don’t know what all those people are doing here.
A Pack of TeAraroa hiker stays in the YHA. So do Michele and Allan. Tomorrow morning we will charter a boat (so called watertaxi), together with them and some of the other hikers, to get from Opua to Waikare. That will keep the costs low.
